about
ABOUT THE SONG:
This song digs into my jazz roots with a fabulous sax solo and bonus extended play, and was written because as a psychotherapist, I understand that how a person feels has to do with their perception, and interpretation of the matter in their lives. And over the past two decades, I've treated so many people who are in pain. Mainly due to disappointments with friends, parents, and other loved ones who they felt misunderstood their intentions and desire, as it relates to what they wanted from them, which was simply their blessing. Just their blessing. But some people misunderstood that and accused them of being too needy or weak, and they were often shamed for just desiring the soulful connection we all came forth to have with others. So this song is intended to convey the true energy-basis of what was being requested and as you'll hear, this one really hit a nerve and my spirit just couldn't let it go....
(As a bonus, the above therapeutic intro has been added to the beginning to ensure that everyone understand the healing intention of this song.)
Chorus
I just wanted your blessing
I just wanted your call
I just wanted your blessing
that's all, that's all
Verse 1
I'm already self-sufficient
I already stand tall
I'm already connected
to the Source that made it all
I just wanted your blessing
as I go through life's lessons
I just wanted your blessing
that's all.
Verse 2
No man is an island,
no one came to be alone.
Every piece of the puzzle,
reminds us we're part of the whole.
Never needed any mercy.
That was never the goal.
I just wanted your blessing,
cause it helps to fortify the soul.
Chorus
I just wanted your blessing.
I just wanted your call.
I just wanted your blessing
that's all, that's all!
Verse 3
I'm already worthy.
I'm already strong.
I just wanted your kindness,
I wouldn't of kept you long.
I'm just merely confessing
life can get distressing.
So I just wanted your blessing
that's all.
Verse 4
I just wanted you to see me
as I really am.
We're all here as spirits,
souls caught in a traffic jam.
I just wanted your blessing
before we ascend like doves.
I just wanted your blessing
and a little agape love.
Chorus
I just wanted your blessing
I just wanted your blessing
I just wanted your blessing
that's all!
